The day before I *thought* I would be leaving Tunisia, I spent the day with some of my Speak Out Tunisia students in the beautiful town of Bizerte, just north of Tunis…

This place was just a few stops down the train line from where I lived in Tunis. I’m fairly certain my parents could retire and live happily ever after at the cafe overlooking the sea. I only went twice, but I have one day in Tunis on my way back from Congo, and I intend to make a third trip. It’s just that good.

I’m slowly posting photos of places I visited while in Tunisia. I spent a few hours in this cute town of Hergla just north of Sousse during a long weekend and fell in love with all the blue and white, the cliff-side cemetery and the old man weaving baskets.

A few smartphone pics from the beautiful coastal towns of Sousse and Monastir.

Every morning and afternoon in Tunis, I rode the local train to and from school, often crammed up against bodies, with breathing room only. I loved the punk kids who jumped the trains as they pulled away from the stations, even though the one above tried to kick my smartphone out of my hands for taking a picture of him.
